Researcher - African Security
John Filitz has a background in economic policy research and international development. His work experience includes tertiary academic institutions and the public sector in his native South Africa, as well as for an international governance NGO based in Washington D.C. John shares a keen interest in the political economy of emerging nations, with a particular focus on extractive related development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a Masters in Development Studies and a Bachelors in Political Science and Economic History from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In his free time John enjoys hiking with his wife and basset hound.
