Counter-Piracy in Southeast Asia: The Search for the Orkim Harmony

In June 2015, pirates in Southeast Asia hijacked a small Malaysian-flagged coastal tanker, MT Orkim Harmony. Less than 12 hours after the attack, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency was informed and a search and rescue operation launched. 30 air and maritime assets from four countries engaged to help locate the vessel over the next six days, demonstrating a successful instance of regional cooperation in combatting piracy.

This video is one in a series produced for the 2015 State of Maritime Piracy report by Oceans Beyond Piracy, a program of OEF.
