Engaging Male Leaders for Women, Peace and Security

Men continue to dominate leadership in national and international security, yet have remained on the sidelines of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) movement.

A new report from OEF's Our Secure Future program provides findings from over 70 interviews with male leaders in the field, and outlines recommendations for further engaging men. The Women in Public Service Project hosted Our Secure Future and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security for a public conversation on male engagement in the WPS agenda, highlighting the findings and recommendations from Our Secure Future's report.

Ambassador Melanne Verveer of Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security moderated the discussion. Panelists included Ambassador Donald Steinberg of World Learning, Inc, Sahana Dharmapuri of Our Secure Future, Ambassador Steven McGann of the Stevenson Group, Jolynn Shoemaker, consultant to Our Secure Future, and Tim Shand of Promundo.
