Dr. Owuor's study is based on field research in South Sudan, Somaliland, and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, and highlights how businesses have continued to conduct affairs in spite of conditions that include weak institutions and lack of trust in government. Findings emphasize that the influence and conduct of the business community can help overcome the problems encountered in fragile states.
