Secure Fisheries coordinated a 45-day boat engine mechanics training for three Somaliland fishers. Insufficient skills training around engine mechanics is a significant problem for the Somali fisheries sector, and specifically within the participants’ community. As a result of the training, the participants are now familiar with outboard and inboard engine parts, engine practical maintenance and repairs, and checking and controlling engine functions. The participants have now returned to their fishing community, where they will put their skills to use to support the local fisheries sector.
