Shuraako and The Danish International Development Agency Team Up

To Launch a Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Program for SME's

The initiative provides support for small and medium-sized enterprises to help them thrive in the Somali region. Hoden, the project manager in Mogadishu, says this technical assistance and capacity building program is part of a bigger strategy to help solve problems in many sectors of the emerging economy.

As part of the initiative, participating SMEs will receive expert support in developing business plans, improving financial management, understanding and developing ESG Action Plans, enhancing corporate governance, and expanding their market reach. These efforts are expected to drive sustainable growth and create lasting impacts on the local economy.

The launch event underscores the broader goals of the Nordic Horn of Africa Opportunities Fund (Nordic Fund) and other donor-funded interventions aimed at stimulating job creation and fostering economic growth through private sector engagement. The Shuraako Program recognizes the significant potential of Somali entrepreneurs and is committed to enhancing on-site operations and efficiency through tailored technical assistance.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to empower Somali businesses and foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Puntland. The continued support and collaboration between international donors, local businesses, and the Shuraako Program are set to create a brighter future for SMEs in the region.

At the second session in Garowe, Puntland entrepreneurs say this type of support is invaluable.

The final session was held in Hargeisa where experienced clients had a chance to encourage and advise some newer business owners.
