Bahaya General Trading Company

Bahaya General Trading Company (“Bahaya”) is a privately owned company established in 1954 in Puntland, Somalia. Bahaya began as a local importer of food and livestock but is now focused on the import of spare auto parts and other vehicle accessories such as tires and batteries.

Since 2015 the business has expanded significantly, increasing revenues by more than 31 percent. Bahaya sought to continue this expansion by procuring a lathe machine, which allows the company to reshape and redesign imported parts to fit, repair, and model parts. Spare auto parts are often very hard to find for many models of vehicles, and this type of custom service is rarely available. Through a Shuraako-facilitated investment, Bahaya was able to acquire this equipment for its facility.
