Buruuj Fishing Company

Buruuj Fishing Company (“Buruuj”) a Bosaso-based company was founded in 2011. The company harvests, processes, and markets fresh fish. The owner has over 20 years of experience in the fishing industry and is highly respected for his successes and longevity in the sector. Buruuj was looking to scale operations to increase revenues, but needed an investment to increase its fleet of boats and expand its cold chain.

With the investment received in 2014, Buruuj doubled the amount of boats in its fleet and strengthened the processing of its catch by building out its cold chain. Buruuj has expanded its operations to catch and process more fish and deliver supply to varied and distant markets. As a result of the investment, Buruuj has increased its revenue and employed 20 additional full time staff members.
