Kallun Maal Fishing Cooperative

Kalluun Maal Fishing Cooperative (“Kalluun Maal” or “the Company”) is a fishing company that was established in 2018 through the merger of two small-scale fishing companies and two additional investors. Because Kalluun Maal orders through fishing cooperatives, they are able to order at large volumes to keep up with demand during peak season.

Previously, Kalluun Maal was renting space in a cold-chain, which hindered their ability to store larger volumes of fish due to capacity restrictions. Through a loan from the Nordic Horn of Africa Opportunities Fund, Kalluun Maal is constructing a processing center with a 210-ton capacity cold-chain, complete with blast freezers, ice machines, and processing equipment.
