Raaho Farm

Founded in 2000, Raaho Farm (“Raaho”) is a commercial farm that spans over eight hectares with 75 percent of its farmland cultivated. Raaho produces fruits and vegetables, in addition to cash crops. The farm has a diversified revenue stream, offering vehicle loading services to farmers for transporting their goods to the local market. In 2015, the farm secured a Shuraako-brokered investment to purchase a truck and rent a bulldozer for land cultivation. The farm was able to cultivate an additional 25 percent of farmland as a result of the investment while also reducing its transportation costs.

In 2019, having fully satisfied the obligations of its first loan, Raaho secured a second Shuraako-facilitated investment to further cultivate the land and safeguard the farm against droughts. The investment supported Raaho in constructing a fence and digging a borehole, in addition to procuring a solar system, water tank, and dump truck. The fence will be used to protect the farm from wildlife, while the additional land cultivation is expected to increase the farm’s revenues.
