Tayo Plastic Factory

Tayo Household Plastic Factory. Ltd was established in 2017 in Hargeisa Somaliland to manufacture plastic products for household items, packaging, food-grade plastic containers, and electric utility items. Tayo started with the manufacturing of 15 item sizes and currently produces over 25 item sizes, which is nearly double. Tayo uses virgin (not recycled) raw materials for food-grade products. They use both virgin and some recycled raw materials from the factory defect items and damaged items returned by Tayo customers to produce electric items.

Tayo received investment from the Nordic Fund to purchase heavy machinery to produce additional equipment, such as the popular plastic chairs that were imported. The investment allowed Tayo to gain new market share by producing chairs and buckets. Tayo broadened its impact by creating a large number of indirect jobs and retailers.
