Mukhtar Abdi Ismail is Shuraako’s Credit Guarantee Scheme Project Manager for the Somaliland region. Mukhtar has over 20 years of experience working in businesses development, economic growth, portfolio management, and monitoring and evaluation. In his role with Shuraako, he conducts trainings and technical assistance for SCGS clients to expand credit opportunities for Somali businesses. He also conducts due diligence to ensure eligibility and compliance with the program regulations while encouraging gender equality throughout the project. Prior to joining Shuraako, Mukhtar worked for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Rescue Committee, Education Development Center, and the US Government in various roles. Mukhtar has a MSc in Agricultural Economics from Alexandria University in Egypt and MA in International Development from Clark Atlanta University, USA.
