On March 5, 2020, the world celebrated the 50th anniversary of the entry into force of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The UN Secretary-General’s spokesman stated that “for half a century, the NPT has served as the most important foundation for international peace and security, the regime of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.” One of the key tasks of the School as an educational tool is to provide a platform for knowledge and experience sharing addressing the three pillars of the NPT: non-proliferation, disarmament and peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The School also aims to encourage a new generation of specialists to be more involved in non-proliferation issues.
The 2-day online school includes lectures delivered by prominent experts in the nuclear field.
Laura Rockwood will be presenting on non-proliferation & IAEA safeguards and Veronika Bedenko will be sharing her expertise on geospatial tools and satellite imagery for non-proliferation analysis.
