After several months of exploration, agreement and planning, PASO Colombia begins to operate a new Alternative Rural School (ERA) in Guapi, Cauca. This is the eleventh territory in which PASO is present in collaboration with public, private, community and international organizations to implement the ERA model.
In alliance with the UN Verification Mission , the National Apprenticeship Service (SENA) and the accompaniment of the World Food Program, the Social Ministry and the Reincorporation and Normalization Agency (ARN) , the ERA begins its activities, in a land given on loan by a member of the community. There, naidí, coconut and pig farming projects will be developed to link to productive chains in the region. Likewise, products such as cassava, papachina, corn, plantain and beans will be grown to contribute to the food security of the participants and neighboring communities.
On February 20, 2019, activities began at the Alternative Rural School (ERA) in Guapi with the delivery of tools and the first works for the preparation of the land in which the crops will be established and a biofactory for the production of fertilizer will be built. organic.
The productive projects initially developed by 46 ex-combatants who decided to migrate from their original areas of reincorporation to settle where their families live. They hope to generate income opportunities for the inhabitants of the region, as well as contribute to the supply of some foods that are scarce in the area.
