One Earth Future’s PASO Colombia program has begun implementation of their first urban-based Rural Alternative School (ERA) in Cali. While PASO’s ERA model to date has focused in rural areas, providing agricultural training and access to markets to small-scale farmers, the new school in Cali aims to create jobs and training opportunities unique to ex-combatants living in urban areas.
Working with SERVIAMPAZ, a cooperative of ex-combatant’s living in Cali, PASO Colombia designed an "Urban Peace” strategy, bringing together partners such as the Cali Chamber of Commerce, the National Training Service (SENA), the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN), and the UN Verification Mission in Colombia.
PASO Colombia is working with SERVIAMPAZ to not only provide jobs and training opportunities to ex-combatants, but they’re also teaming up to manufacture 12,000 masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
